Winkin, Blinkin and Nod
by Greg Hatten, Wooden Boat Adeventures

Presenting the "fly"

This classic nursery rhyme with a Northwest "twist" originally written by Eugene Field - who had strong ties to St. Joseph, MO., Greg's hometown - has a distinctive Northwest twist. The shoe is a little Blue Drift Boat and Winkin, Blinkin, and Nod are fishing for Steelhead with "flies of Silver and Gold." Greg wrote the lullaby for his grandkids, but its popularity is quickly spreading. The rocking boat and the book go hand in hand.
